Dynamic Virtual Environments: Possible New OpenSim Based Approaches
Streaming Link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/oscc3

The possibility of creating OpenSim-Based client-server framework using C# as a scripting language both on client and server sides is considered. This framework offers a number of new features for developers of complex applications in OpenSim, and provides a new level of abstraction for developers of OpenSim based environments. The prototype of such solution is introduced. Some practical applications (e-learning in Aeroflot-Russian airlines) are presented.

Virtual Worlds on a Web Browser
Streaming Link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/oscc3

With the advent of WebGL, WebSockets, and most recently WebRTC, the HTML5 family of technologies has grown to cover what’sneeded to run a Virtual World client. But does it really work? Is it suitable? How is the performance? In this session we explore these questions and try to find a good strategy of using browser technologies to deliver virtual worlds.

Dispatcher: A Secure, External Script Interface for OpenSim
Streaming Link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/oscc3

Extending the behavior of OpenSim primarily involves adding code to the simulator itself through in-world scripts written in LSL. To enable a broader set of languages and applications, we built Dispatcher, a language-independent API that for external scripting of OpenSim regions. Using Dispatcher, scripts can be written in any language that provides a JSON messaging interface; the package comes with libraries for Perl and Python. The Dispatcher API supports scene update operations, asset manipulation, inventory and avatar appearance changes, and handling of in-world events. The presentation will include a demonstration that uses the Dispatcher package to connect OpenSim to the Sumo traffic simulator for visualizing 1000's of moving cars.

Scaling OpenSimulator inventory using NoSQL
Streaming Link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/oscc3

When scaling out an OpenSim grid to hundreds of concurrent users, one of the first systems that will begin to show signs of stress is back end inventory storage. This presentation will demonstrate how NoSQL, and specifically Apache Cassandra, can provide unlimited scalability and low latency for inventory reads and writes.
